The wife also appealed to the Katsina State Government and leaders of five local government areas to facilitate compliance with the demands to secure their release.
The retired general spoke briefly in the video, calling for efforts to ensure peace and adding that the abductors had expressed interest in dialogue and peaceful coexistence.
The couple were abducted along the Marabar Musawa–Kafinsoli road in Matazu Local Government Area of Katsina State, near Zakin Baure village.
According to Daily Trust, the retired general’s family has reportedly been contacted by the infamous bandit leader Kachallah Muhammad, who operates in parts of Katsina State.
Abubakar served as Director of Defence Information, a key spokesman role for Nigeria’s military, before his retirement. His abduction adds to a wave of kidnappings targeting prominent figures across Nigeria.
