Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde’s presidential campaign organisation accused the Nigerian government of withholding subnational dividends accrued from the Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) company.
Dismissing recent presidential denials on Sunday, October 18, 2026, the Makinde-Daura Presidential Campaign Organisation (MDPCO) insisted that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu must account for unallocated public funds rather than hiding behind historical figures to manage a “voodoo economy.”
The political clash follows an earlier rebuttal by the Presidency, which refuted Governor Makinde’s initial claims by arguing that disbursing ₦250 billion to each state would total ₦9 trillion—a sum NLNG has never paid in a single dividend cycle.
Rejecting the Nigerian government’s defence, MDPCO Director of Strategic Communications Richard Nnanna Ihediwa stated that citing 25-year cumulative payouts fails to clarify whether specific subnational allocations were delayed or suppressed.

“If the Tinubu Presidency claims that Engr. Makinde is wrong in his assertion that the ₦250 billion NLNG dividend meant for states is being withheld, we challenge President Tinubu to directly tell Nigerians if the said dividends have been paid to the states,” Ihediwa asserted.
The campaign organisation demanded that the Presidency publish official Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) records, bank dividend receipts, and approved distribution schedules to settle the financial dispute transparently.
Reaffirming the platform of Allied People’s Movement (APM) candidate Governor Makinde, the campaign team argued that official fiscal claims remain disconnected from the daily economic realities of citizens, adding that surging support for Makinde’s “RESET NIGERIA” platform continues to prompt defensive responses from the ruling administration.
