Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappe secured his place in football history on Saturday by becoming the all-time top scorer in World Cup history.

The French forward netted his second goal of the match during the third-place play-off against England, bringing his historic career tournament tally to 22 goals.

Mbappe amassed this record-breaking total across appearances in three separate World Cup tournaments.

With his latest strike, he moves one goal ahead of Argentina’s Lionel Messi, who takes the pitch on Sunday to face Spain in the final.
