The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) says it destroyed a terrorist enclave in Yaganari, located in the Gezuwa general area of Borno State, during a precision air operation carried out on July 10.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the Director of Public Relations and Information at NAF Headquarters, Ehimen Ejodame, said the operation was launched after credible intelligence indicated renewed terrorist activity and the concentration of fighters in the area.
According to the statement, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance missions confirmed the presence of terrorist structures and logistics hubs before the Air Component of Operation HADIN KAI carried out a series of precision strikes.
The airstrikes, the Air Force said, destroyed terrorist infrastructure and neutralised several fighters, further disrupting the group’s operations and limiting its ability to regroup.
“The targets were subsequently engaged in a series of precision strikes, leading to the destruction of terrorist infrastructure and the neutralisation of several terrorists.

“The successful operation further underscores the growing pressure being mounted on terrorist elements, whose freedom of movement and ability to regroup continue to be severely degraded by sustained air offensives, ”NAF said.
The Chief of the Air Staff, Sunday Aneke, commended the personnel involved in the operation for their professionalism and reaffirmed the Air Force’s commitment to sustaining offensive operations against terrorist groups.
He said the Nigerian Air Force would continue to work with ground troops to track, disrupt and eliminate terrorist elements wherever they operate, while maintaining pressure to deny them safe havens and prevent them from rebuilding their capabilities.
“The Nigerian Air Force will continue to deliver decisive air power in concert with surface forces to hunt down, disrupt and destroy terrorist elements wherever they may seek refuge.
“We remain committed to ensuring that terrorists have no safe haven and no opportunity to recover their capabilities, ” he said.
The Air Force added that the Armed Forces remained focused on consolidating the gains recorded in the ongoing counter-terrorism campaign.
