Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has removed six commissioners from the state executive council in a minor shake-up described as a move to revitalise governance.
Secretary to the State Government, Labaran Magaji, announced the development on Tuesday after the State Executive Council meeting in Lafia.
Those affected include heads of the Ministries of Works, Women Affairs, Information, Lands, Science and Technology, as well as Security and Sundry Matters.
Magaji said the decision was intended to bring in new perspectives and strengthen service delivery in the remaining tenure of the administration, adding that it was not based on underperformance.
“The government appreciates their contributions. The adjustment is intended to rejig the system, inject fresh energy into the administration and ensure that the mandate given to Gov. Abdullahi Sule is fully delivered within the remaining period of this administration,” he said.
The former commissioners will remain part of the government and may be considered for other roles in future, Magaji added.
He stated that the names of the new appointees would be announced through the appropriate channels.
The council also discussed plans to boost revenue through lithium investments, following the recent commissioning of one of Africa’s largest lithium processing plants in the state by President Bola Tinubu.
