The Netherlands have moved closer to the knockout stage of the FIFA World Cup after a dominant 5-1 victory over Sweden on Saturday in Houston, United States.
Forwards, Cody Gakpo and Brian Brobbey scored two goals each as the Dutch bounced back strongly from their opening 2-2 draw against Japan.
The victory puts the Netherlands at the top of Group F with four points from two matches. Sweden remain on three points, while Japan and Tunisia were due to play later on Saturday.
Brobbey, who was making his first start of the tournament, opened the scoring after just five minutes.
The Sunderland striker doubled the lead 12 minutes later, giving Ronald Koeman’s side full control of the match.
Sweden struggled to contain the Dutch attack and found themselves under pressure for much of the first half.
Despite creating several chances, they were repeatedly denied by Dutch goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen and poor finishing in front of goal.

The Netherlands extended their advantage shortly after the break when Liverpool forward Cody Gakpo scored from close range.
Two minutes later, he grabbed his second of the game with a fine low finish to make it 4-0.
Sweden managed to pull one goal back in the 59th minute through substitute Anthony Elanga, who raced through the Dutch defence before finishing confidently.
However, the Dutch had the final say as Crysencio Summerville added a fifth goal late in the game to complete an impressive performance.
The match was attended by nearly 69,000 fans, including Dutch supporters and King Willem-Alexander. Two crew members from the historic Artemis II lunar mission were also among the VIP guests.
The result leaves the Netherlands in a strong position to reach the knockout rounds, while Sweden will look to bounce back when they face Japan in their next match.
The Dutch will take on Tunisia as they continue their push for a place in the last 32.
