The Managing Director of News Central TV, Kayode Akintemi, has been named among the 100 Most Reputable Africans by Reputation Poll International.

Reputation Poll International, a global reputation management and media firm, announced Akintemi’s recognition at the Global Reputation Forum, held on Thursday in London.

The event convenes global leaders and innovators to discuss reputation as an asset. It focuses on leadership, building trust in the digital age, and the increasing impact of African narratives.

Akintemi is a journalist and media executive with over three decades of experience in journalism and media leadership. News Central TV’s MD said he was proud and honoured to have been selected as one of the 100 most reputable Africans.

“It’s a very special award for me. It’s not like any other award. It’s not an award based on, yes, you are good at broadcasting, or you’re good. Those ones come almost every year, but when you have something of this nature, it’s a treasure because it means that somebody is looking at what you have been doing over the years, the level of consistency in terms of the person that you are, your character, the kind of things that you do,” said Akintemi.

“It’s truly a special honour for me that I’ve been recognised in this way.”

He also emphasised the importance of an exemplary reputation. According to Akintemi, a reputation, whether good or questionable, is what defines a person. He added that News Central is committed to building the next generation of media leaders who understand the value of a good reputation.

“But it’s also a message to a lot of young people that what we are doing is to make sure that you understand how important it is that you have a good reputation.

“Your reputation has got to be one that defines you. What kind of a person are you? What do people remember you for as what you do? Are you a criminal? Are you fraudulent? Or are you somebody that everyone will say has a good reputation? I can do business with him,” he added.

“The reputation of New Central is one where we say that we’re good at what we do, and we are very ethical in everything that we do, and we push out the message that we’re employing a lot of young people because they are the next generation of leaders in the industry.

“As leaders in the industry for the future, they must understand how important it is to have a reputation that you say it precedes you and it is one that make people want to draw towards you and do the things you do and be a part of whatever projects that you’re going to do,” he concluded.
