Nigeria’s government has announced a revolutionary approach to combat security challenges, with the planned deployment of the Multi-domain Hybrid Intelligence Shield (HIS).
The cutting-edge initiative, which leverages advanced artificial intelligence (AI), aims to strengthen national security by addressing critical threats, including terrorism, piracy, and illegal mining.
During a visit to Monaco, Defence Minister General Christopher Musa (Rtd) witnessed live demonstrations of the HIS technology, which includes AI-powered threat identification, anti-drone interception systems, radar detection, and mobile surveillance. These technologies will work in unison to provide real-time intelligence, enabling the Nigerian government to swiftly respond to potential threats.
The HIS project, in partnership with MARSS UK Ltd and MPS Mikopowers Ltd, marks a significant milestone in Nigeria’s fight against insecurity. The collaboration will not only provide access to advanced technologies but also ensure that Nigeria benefits from cutting-edge tech transfer, enabling local expertise to grow and flourish.

Gen. Musa emphasised the importance of technological advancement in counteracting modern security threats, saying that the initiative will greatly enhance the ability to safeguard Nigeria’s borders, vital infrastructure, and citizens. The project, once fully implemented, will represent a major leap in Nigeria’s national security strategy, making it one of the most advanced security frameworks in Africa.
As part of the Renewed Hope agenda under President Bola Tinubu’s leadership, the HIS is expected to significantly reduce the operational capabilities of criminal organisations, giving Nigeria the upper hand in maintaining peace and stability.
The government’s commitment to national security, combined with the adoption of AI-powered solutions, signals a new era for the country’s security framework. With the HIS initiative, Nigeria is set to become a regional leader in the use of advanced technologies to fight crime and ensure peace.
