Nigeria’s next president, prior to the start of the 2027 general elections, has already been determined by God, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Enoch Adeboye, said on Saturday.
Speaking at a workers’ gathering at Redemption City on the Lagos-Ibadan Motorway, Adeboye claimed that human influence could not affect the election’s outcome.
“The next president has already been decided by God, who owns the universe. It is not something we can determine by human effort alone. The will of God will be done,” he said.
The cleric reminded Nigerians that God is the ultimate authority while promoting political engagement.
“I never said we should not be involved in politics, but we must understand that God has the final say in the affairs of men,” he said.
As the countdown to 2027 continues, Adeboye called for prayer and calm.

“We should do our part, but we should also keep on praying and trusting God. That is what is satisfying to me,” he added.
Adeboye also pushed back against remarks by another cleric, Isaac Omolehin, who had labelled him alongside Bishop David Oyedepo and Pastor William Kumuyi as “fathers of Christians in Nigeria.”
The RCCG leader said he does not see himself that way.
“He said that we are not the fathers of Christians, but we are denominational fathers. He is very correct. I don’t want to be the father of all Christians in Nigeria. I’m satisfied with being the father of the Redeemed Christian Church of God. That’s enough assignments for me.”
He pointed to the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) as the proper leadership body for the country’s Christian community.
“I have never wanted to be the father of all Christians in Nigeria. The CAN President is the father leader of Christians in Nigeria.”
