Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has announced a $100 million (about ₦133 billion) Investment Support Fund, hoping to attract more local and foreign investors to the state.
Speaking at the Delta State Economic and Investment Summit 2026 in Asaba, the governor said the fund is designed to ease the financial burden of setting up large-scale businesses, making Delta a more attractive destination for investment and economic growth.
“I am pleased to announce that the Delta State Government has set aside $100 million, approximately ₦133 billion, as a Viability Gap Fund to de-risk new investments in the state. This is a practical demonstration of our total commitment to ensuring that the agreements reached at this summit translate into real projects and measurable economic impact,” Oborevwori said.

The governor also assured investors of Delta State’s strong financial position, saying his administration has continued to invest heavily in roads and other critical infrastructure without taking loans from commercial banks.
“We have not borrowed a kobo from any bank, and we have no intention of doing so. This underscores our commitment to fiscal discipline, prudent financial management, transparency, and accountability,” he said.
Governor Oborevwori said Delta State presents strong investment opportunities across key sectors, including agriculture, oil and gas, manufacturing, renewable energy, logistics and the blue economy. He noted that the state has introduced investor-friendly incentives, including tax and levy waivers for qualifying businesses, improved security and the establishment of the Ease of Doing Business Council to make investing in Delta more attractive.
According to the governor, the summit is intended to connect investors with viable business opportunities, drive industrial growth, create jobs and further strengthen the state’s economy in line with his administration’s MORE Agenda.
