The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) faction backed by Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has extended the deadline for the purchase and submission of nomination forms for aspirants seeking to contest in its primaries.

The party, in a statement issued on Wednesday, signed by Ini Ememobong, its National Publicity Secretary, said the extension followed appeals from stakeholders and aspirants across Nigeria.

According to Ememobong, the deadline for purchasing nomination forms has been extended to May 15, 2026, while the last date for submitting completed forms is now May 18, 2026.

The party also fixed May 19, 2026, for the screening of aspirants.

“In response to the appeals from stakeholders and aspirants across the country, the Interim National Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party has amended the earlier published timetable for activities culminating in the nomination of candidates,” the statement read.

The PDP added that aspirants for national and state assembly positions would be screened in their respective states, while governorship and presidential aspirants would be screened in Abuja.

It added that all other activities in the timetable remain unchanged.

This extension comes a week after the rival faction, backed by the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, extended the deadline for the purchase of its expression of interest and nomination forms, which it had earlier scheduled to close on May 4, 2026, to May 7, 2026.
