The death toll from Friday’s multiple-vehicle crash along the Hawan Kibo Road in the Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State has risen to 21.
The latest figure was disclosed on Saturday by the Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Plateau State, Corps Commander Adelaja Ogungbemi, after he inspected the crash scene with the Zonal Commanding Officer, Assistant Corps Marshal Joseph Udoabba.
The officials assessed the scene and the extent of damage caused by the crash, which occurred on Friday evening after a truck reportedly suffered brake failure and rammed into other vehicles travelling towards Jos.
A truck, a Hummer bus and a motorcycle were involved in the crash.
The impact caused the Hummer bus to catch fire, leaving several victims trapped inside the vehicle.
Following their assessment, the FRSC officials urged motorists to exercise caution and ensure their vehicles were properly maintained to reduce the risk of crashes.

They particularly advised vehicle owners and drivers to conduct regular checks on critical components, especially braking systems, which they identified as essential to road safety.
The FRSC also continued efforts to manage traffic around the crash scene, remove the damaged vehicles and support the recovery of victims.
The latest incident adds to a series of fatal road crashes recorded across Nigeria in recent months.
Last month, six people were confirmed dead in a motor accident along Girei Road in Adamawa State.
Earlier, a multiple-vehicle crash on the Ibadan end of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway killed at least five people and left eight others injured.
In April, the Ogun State Sector Command of the FRSC reported that three people died in another multiple-vehicle crash at the Onipepeye axis of the Abeokuta-Sagamu Road in Obafemi Owode Local Government Area, while seven others sustained injuries.
