HR Alhaji Sadiq Mohammed, leader of the Onu-Igala Community in Jos, has dismissed reports of instability in Plateau State, crediting Governor Caleb Mutfwang’s rapid personal intervention for extinguishing recent communal tensions.

Speaking at a News Central TV Town Hall on Thursday, the community leader characterised rumours of widespread unrest as false, pointing to Governor Mutfwang’s “immediate” response to local hitches as the primary reason for the state’s current calm.

Mohammed noted that the ability to hold such a public gathering is a testament to the peace restored through proactive executive leadership.

He referenced a recent “small hitch” that threatened to escalate into a larger conflict, explaining that the governor’s immediate presence and performance successfully de-escalated the crisis.

This hands-on management style, Mohammed argued, has turned potential disasters into “a thing of the past.”

Plateau State has historically faced complex security challenges, often characterised by communal clashes over land, resources, and ethnic differences.

For years, the region has been a focal point for intermittent violence that has drawn international concern.

However, recent administrative efforts have focused on early warning systems and direct community engagement to foster coexistence.

Alhaji Mohammed’s remarks reflect a growing confidence among ethnic community leaders in the current administration’s ability to maintain order and protect the diverse populations residing in Jos and the surrounding areas.
