The Lagos State Police Command has launched an investigation into the delivery of a suspicious parcel containing live ammunition to the Managing Director of FirstBank, Oluwasegun Alebiosu.
Commissioner of Police, Tijani Fatai, confirmed the development on Tuesday during a briefing at the command headquarters, noting that detectives have already commenced inquiries to determine how the parcel was sent and who may be responsible.
According to him, the incident was reported on May 7, 2026, after Alebiosu discovered two rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition hidden inside a package delivered to him.
Tijani explained that the delivery was initially received by the bank executive’s security guard, who later handed it over to him, leading to the discovery.
“The Managing Director reported the matter to the police after discovering two rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition in a parcel collected on his behalf,” Tijani said. “The case is still under investigation, and we are treating it with the seriousness it deserves.”

Sources familiar with the incident said the parcel was delivered to Alebiosu’s residence in Lagos’s Ikoyi area by a dispatch rider. The package was reportedly marked confidential, bearing only the recipient’s name and address, with no identifiable sender information.
The police commissioner added that no arrests have been made so far, but investigators are actively pursuing multiple leads. He also noted that detectives are reviewing information provided by the complainant, including details of individuals who may have had prior knowledge of or involvement in the delivery.
Tijani further stated that forensic analysis and intelligence-led tracking are ongoing to establish the parcel’s origin and trace any individuals linked to its movement.
Authorities have assured that updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.
The incident has drawn attention to growing concerns over the security of corporate executives and high-profile individuals in Lagos, particularly regarding the use of untraceable deliveries as potential security threats.
