President Buhari Writes Reps, Seeks Confirmation of New COAS

Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari has asked the House of Representatives to confirm the appointment of Major General Farouk Yahaya as the new Chief of Army Staff (COAS).

President Buhari also asked the House to pass a law to increase the retirement age of teachers from the present 60 years to 65 years while also increasing the mandatory age of service from 35 to 40 years.

President Buhari on May 27, appointed Major-General Farouk Yahaya as the new Chief of Army Staff.

General Farouk Yahaya will replace the immediate past Army Chief, Lieutenant-General Ibrahim Attahiru died in a Kaduna air-crash along with 10 other military officials.
