The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has reaffirmed its commitment to financial transparency and accountability, declaring that it would not protect any pastor or worker found involved in financial misconduct.
The church stated this in a press release following an address by the Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede, to its workers on Saturday, November 7, 2026.
Olukoyede, who is also an ordained pastor, spoke on financial propriety at the invitation of the church’s General Overseer, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, ahead of its annual Holy Ghost Congress.
During his address, the EFCC chairman recounted an incident in which a donation made towards a church project was later discovered to have originated from financial crime.
According to the statement, Adeboye directed that the entire donation be refunded within 24 hours after the church was alerted to its source.
Olukoyede commended the church for returning the money promptly and without conditions.
The Church stressed that it neither knowingly accepted nor retained proceeds of financial crime, adding that the funds were returned immediately the church became aware of their origin.
The church also said Adeboye had instructed pastors and other workers to maintain accurate and verifiable financial records, avoid materialism and unhealthy competition for positions, and establish the source of donations before accepting them.

It maintained that no individual would be shielded if found to have engaged in financial wrongdoing, describing accountability as an established part of its institutional culture rather than a response to the latest engagement with the anti-graft agency.
The RCCG further welcomed cooperation and scrutiny from institutions such as the EFCC, saying organisations committed to transparency should be willing to account for their activities.
“Speaking to his workers, Pastor Adeboye reaffirmed the Church’s standing position. RCCG will not shield any person found in a financially compromising situation.
“Every pastor and worker is charged to keep clean and verifiable records, to resist materialism and the scramble for position, and to understand the source of what is given before it is received.
“This posture is neither new nor for the occasion; it is the culture the General Overseer has built over decades.
“The Church welcomes the partnership and the scrutiny of institutions such as the EFCC, because an institution with nothing to hide has nothing to fear from accountability.

“Integrity, for the believer, is itself an act of worship,” the statement read.
It further commended the commission’s personnel for their service to the country and said the church would continue to pray for public office holders without endorsing any of them.
“The Redeemed Christian Church of God commends the men and women of the EFCC in their service to the nation, and will continue to pray for all who hold authority – endorsing none.”
