Real Madrid Football Club has confirmed the signing of defender Ibrahima Konate from Liverpool on a four-year contract that will keep him at the Santiago Bernabeu until June 2030.

The French centre-back will join the Spanish giants after reaching an agreement to move to the club at the end of his contract with Liverpool.

Konate, 27, joined Liverpool from RB Leipzig in 2021 and made 183 appearances for the Premier League club, winning the English top flight in 2025 and the Football Association (FA) Cup in 2022 among other honours.

The defender, who is currently representing France at the World Cup, becomes one of Real Madrid’s latest summer additions as the club continues to reshape its squad.

Real have already strengthened their team with the appointment of Jose Mourinho as head coach and the signings of Spain defender Marc Cucurella and Portugal midfielder Bernardo Silva.

The club has also been linked with Inter Milan wing-back Denzel Dumfries as it seeks to rebuild after two consecutive seasons without a major trophy.

Konate’s arrival comes after Real extended Antonio Rudiger’s contract until 2027, following the departures of Dani Carvajal and David Alaba at the end of their deals with the club.
