Rubio, Lavrov to Meet at UN Assembly

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio will meet with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on Wednesday morning on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly.

The high-level meeting coincides with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s scheduled address to the United Nations on the same day, following Zelensky’s talks with US President Donald Trump in New York.

Ahead of his address, Zelensky stated that Ukraine is prepared to halt strikes on Russian energy infrastructure if Moscow agrees to reciprocal terms.

As US-led peace efforts remain stalled, both nations have intensified long-range strikes against civilian targets, port infrastructure, and Black Sea shipping, leading Zelensky to urge American diplomats to press Russia toward formal negotiations.
