The Senate has expressed deep sorrow over the death of former Director of Defence Information, Major General Rabe Abubakar (rtd.), describing him as a dedicated officer who served Nigeria with honour.
In a statement issued on Saturday by the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Army, Senator Abdulaziz Musa Yar’Adua, the lawmakers said they received the news of his death with “deep sorrow.”
The statement noted that General Abubakar, a native of Batsari Local Government Area in Katsina State, was abducted alongside his wife on 30 May along the Katsina–Matazu road.

According to the committee, the late military officer served Nigeria faithfully during his career and continued to contribute to national security discussions after retirement.
The Senate extended condolences to his family, the Nigerian Army, the people of Batsari, and the entire Katsina State.
Lawmakers also prayed for the repose of his soul and called for unity in ongoing efforts to strengthen national security.
The Committee reaffirmed its commitment to working with the Executive and security agencies to improve protection of lives and property across the country.
