American tennis player Serena Williams will return to professional tennis on Tuesday after tournament organisers confirmed she will play in the women’s doubles draw at London’s Queen’s Club.
The 44-year-old American legend accepted a wildcard to partner with Canadian teenager Victoria Mboko, facing third seeds Erin Routliffe and Nicole Melichar-Martinez in the grass-court event.
The match marks Williams’ first professional appearance since she stepped away from the sport after the 2022 US Open.
She launched this comeback specifically so her two young daughters could watch her compete in a professional environment before she retires for good.
Following the grass-court warm-up at Queen’s, Williams plans to travel to Germany to play doubles at the Berlin Open.

While Williams downplayed a full return to singles play, she refused to completely rule out an appearance at Wimbledon later this month.
She explained that she currently needs more training to handle the physical demands of singles matches but remains open to future opportunities.
