South-East Nigeria Debut Own Security Outfit “EBUBE AGU”

The governors of the South-East region of Nigeria have agreed upon and announced the establishment of a joint security outfit fort ue region; EBUBEAGU.

In attendance were governors of Anambra, Abia, Ebonyi, Imo and Enugu states, Navy and Air Force Commanders, the Inspector-General of Police, Ohanaeze Ndigbo and other stakeholders.

Governors of Anambra, Abia, Ebonyi, Imo and Enugu states,

The security meeting comes days after gunmen attacked correctional facilities in Owerri, freeing 1,884 inmates. The Imo State Police Command was also attacked by the gunmen who set several vehicles ablaze same day.

In a tweet by Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State,

…the meeting strongly condemns the burning of police stations, violent attacks on custodial centres with the unlawful release of inmates, and the killings including security personnel, natives/ farmers and herdsmen .

That the five South East states are on the same page with the Federal Government on the issue of security challenges in the country.
