African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore has accused individuals allegedly linked to the Ekiti State Government House and operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) of involvement in an attack on him and his campaign team in Ado-Ekiti.

Sowore made the allegations in a post on his official X account on Friday, claiming that the attackers were provided with tracking and operational support by the DSS.

He alleged that DSS operatives had been following and harassing members of his team since they arrived in Ekiti State on Thursday.

According to him, the operatives also threatened the manager of a restaurant where his team had earlier eaten, warning him against allowing them to use the premises again.

Sowore said the attack occurred shortly after he completed an interview at MIDAS FM 90.5 in Ado-Ekiti, when armed men allegedly descended on him and his team.

“This is the level of infamy to which Nigeria has been subjected! Those who brutally attacked us in Ado-Ekiti today came from the Government House

“They are well known, and they were provided with tracking and operational support by the DSS.

“Since our arrival yesterday, DSS operatives have been trailing and harassing us.

“They even threatened the manager of the first place where we ate, warning him never to allow us to use his premises again.

“Today, shortly after I completed an interview at MIDAS FM 90.5 in Ado-Ekiti, the thugs descended on us in a violent attack, allegedly with the assistance of the DSS,” he said.

He further accused the DSS of assisting the attackers, although he did not provide evidence to substantiate the allegation in his post.

The development followed an earlier post on Sowore’s X account claiming that armed thugs had kidnapped him and that his whereabouts were unknown.

The African Action Congress had also raised the alarm over the incident, calling on the Nigeria Police Force, DSS, Independent National Electoral Commission and other relevant agencies to investigate and ensure Sowore’s safety.

The campaign described the incident as a serious security concern and demanded an immediate security assessment, protective measures and an investigation into those responsible.

Sowore is in Ekiti State for campaign activities ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
