The presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, has proposed appointing artificial intelligence as Nigeria’s Minister of Finance and a drone as Minister of Defence if elected.
In a post on X on Friday, Sowore said his administration would leverage emerging technologies to combat corruption, improve public financial management and strengthen national security.
“Sowore2027 will appoint Artificial Intelligence as ‘Minister of Finance’ and a ‘Drone’ as Minister of Defence,” he wrote.
Explaining the proposal, Sowore argued that artificial intelligence would remove human interference from the management of public funds.
“The AI will eliminate human manipulation, waste, and corruption in public finance by making data-driven, transparent decisions,” he said.

On security, the former presidential candidate said drone technology would modernise Nigeria’s defence architecture through enhanced surveillance and rapid response capabilities.
“The Drone will redefine national security with modern surveillance, rapid response, precision, and accountability,” Sowore added.
He concluded by describing technology as the future of governance.
“The future of governance is technology, not patronage.”
While Sowore did not elaborate on how the proposal would work within Nigeria’s constitutional framework, his comments reflect a broader campaign message advocating the use of technology to reform public institutions, reduce corruption and improve government efficiency.
