Nigerian activist, Omoyele Sowore, has visited the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF) to demand the release of a whistleblower, Mark Chidiebere, known as Justice Crack, who is reportedly being detained by the Department of State Services (DSS) over alleged cybercrime offences linked to a viral video concerning the Nigerian Army.
Sowore, in a post shared on X on Thursday, said he visited the AGF and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi, on Wednesday.

“Our mission was straightforward; it was to follow up on the letter earlier written by Barrister Marshal demanding that the Attorney General discontinue the reckless charges filed by the DSS against Justice Crack, charges that have kept Justice Crack unjustly remanded in DSS custody by a Federal High Court judge, Justice Joyce Obehi Abdulmalik,” said Sowore.

“We made it unequivocally clear that we would not tolerate any further delay in discontinuing the case, citing torture, abuse of process, and bogus, unethical charges. ”
Sowore added that the Ministry of Justice is neglecting its responsibility to protect Nigerians’ rights, citing the abuse-of-power case. He also urged the release of Ighorhiohwunu Aghogho, who is reportedly detained at the Warri Custodial Centre in Delta State on cyberstalking-related charges.
The activist said the AGF promised to address their complaints.
“Mr Fagbemi, who was accompanied by the Solicitor-General and the Director of Public Prosecution, promised to look into our complaints. It was obvious he was uncomfortable with my presence, partly because we occupied his ministry while he was away on Monday, and also because those responsible for injustice are rarely remorseful about their wrongdoing.”
