‘Starmer Was a Terrible Prime Minister’ – Kemi Badenoch

The United Kingdom Conservative Party leader, Kemi Badenoch, has described Keir Starmer’s time in office as a failure, arguing that Britain’s problems are rooted not just in the outgoing prime minister’s leadership but also in Labour Party values.

“Hiking national insurance. The Family Farm Tax. Giving up on real welfare reform. Not funding our defence. Not drilling our own oil and gas. Appointing Peter Mandelson…then lying about what had happened,” Badenoch wrote on X shortly after Starmer announced his resignation.

Britain is not ungovernable, she claimed. “Keir Starmer is a terrible Prime Minister. But the problem isn’t just Starmer.”

She pointed to Labour’s broader policy direction, accusing the party of prioritising higher taxes and welfare spending over economic growth.

“Labour MPs only want higher taxes to hand out more benefits, as the Welfare Secretary has pointed out. These are Labour’s choices and their values, regardless of who is running the party,” she said.

The Conservative leader called for a political reset, saying her party offered the best path to revive the economy.

“We need to get Britain working again. We need the Conservatives,” she stated.

Starmer has announced his resignation due to mounting pressure from his own lawmakers, paving the way for a seventh British prime minister in a decade.
