The Nigerian Education Loan Fund has rejected a notice circulating online that claimed the agency paused its student loan disbursement programme, calling the document fraudulent.
In a post on X on Saturday, NELFUND stated that it had issued no such directive and asked the public to ignore the message.
The false notice alleged that “due to unforeseen operational circumstances… NELFUND has taken the difficult decision to temporarily pause the student loan disbursement programme with immediate effect.”

But the agency responded, saying that the “document is fake”.
NELFUND asked the public to ignore the letter, noting that it had not issued any such directive.
