Tanzania Says Salary Increment Should Serve As Catalyst For Workers

Mr. Anthony Mtaka, Regional Commissioner of Dodoma has called on public servants in Tanzania to see their recent salary increment as catalyst to improve their performance.

In a meeting with public servants this week, Mtaka praised the President, Suluhu Hassan for supporting and encouraging public servants in the country.

Mtaka asked the employees to be committed, and productive in their outputs.

“On behalf of other workers, I promise that that we increase productivity as a reward to the president, after her decision to increase salaries by 23.3 per cent,” he said.

Mtaka said the salary increment is a good step to increase productivity in the public sector and encourage people to work for better retirement.

“Use the salary increment well. You may spend it on your children education, go and pay school fees for your children to avoid inconveniences such as being summoned by social welfare officers over failure to fulfill your obligations,” RC Mtaka said.

The increment in salaries is expected to help Tanzanian workers grapple with the effects of global inflation.
