Suspected terrorists attacked Tsamiya town in Kebbi State on Saturday night, destroying property and abducting a resident, prompting the police to deploy tactical teams to the area.
The Kebbi State Police Command said the attackers stormed the community late on Saturday, firing sporadically before setting several structures ablaze. The buildings destroyed included a makeshift checkpoint belonging to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC a local brothel and the home of a resident, Sule Mai Goge.
The assailants also abducted Alhaji Yusuf Bazamfare during the attack.

Confirming the incident in a statement issued early on Sunday, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bashir Usman, said the Commissioner of Police ordered the immediate deployment of additional security personnel to restore calm.
“The Kebbi State Police Command has deployed tactical personnel to Tsamiya Town following an attack by suspected terrorists in the late hours of 20th June 2026,” Usman said.
He explained that security agencies responded swiftly after receiving reports of the attack.
“Upon receipt of the report, the Commissioner of Police immediately directed the deployment of additional security forces to secure lives and property,” he stated.
Usman added that investigators had launched a full-scale probe into the incident, while efforts to rescue the abducted victim and arrest those responsible were ongoing.
“A comprehensive investigation into the incident has since commenced, and efforts to rescue the kidnapped victim and track the perpetrators are ongoing,” he said.
The command assured residents of Tsamiya and neighbouring communities that security operations would continue until normalcy is fully restored. It also urged the public to remain calm, stay vigilant and provide credible information to support ongoing operations.
Police said further updates would be released as investigations progress.
