The Green Line has taken a step forward with the approval of Phase 1A by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Federal Executive Council.

In a post on Friday, Lagos State governor Babajide Sanwoolu expressed the state’s gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for his unwavering support for this transformative project.

Sanwoolu said that the approval marks a key milestone in the ongoing efforts to improve Lagos’ transportation network, which is expected to ease congestion and promote sustainable development in the region.

The project is designed to serve up to 500,000 passengers daily, with future capacity to accommodate up to 1,000,000 people.

According to the state governor, the Green Line will help address the growing pressures on Lagos’ road network by providing a fast and efficient means of transport. With a capacity to move 35,000 passengers per hour in each direction, the rail line will significantly reduce travel times, making commuting more convenient for Lagosians.

The governor said that the Green Line Rail Project is a testament to the state’s commitment to enhancing mobility, supporting economic growth, and improving the quality of life for its residents.
