African Action Congress 2027 presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore appeared at the High Court in Abuja on Monday for his ongoing cybercrime trial over a social media post in which he described President Bola Tinubu as a “criminal.”
Addressing supporters outside the court complex, Sowore accused Tinubu of ‘running away‘, alleging that the president is being administered steroids to create a false impression of vitality.
“While I was away, Tinubu also ran away. I heard they are still pumping him up with steroids so that they can come and deceive Nigeria that he’s strong again. But it’s too late now,” Sowore said.

He said the case is being pursued by both the Department of State Services and his own legal team.
“We have been told that the DSS said they want to continue the case. We also want to continue our case against them as well. The case of Nigerian people against the Nigerian state and irresponsible leaders in the country,” he said.
Sowore outlined his campaign priorities, including electricity generation, improved teacher pay, modern transportation infrastructure, free education and higher wages for workers.
“Our focus is how to generate 22 hours electricity in Nigeria. It’s how to pay our teachers very well. It’s how to provide modern railroad, water and air transportation,” he said.
“It’s how to provide free education for Nigerians. It’s how to pay 500,000 Naira a week for our workers.”
Sowore criticised the salaries of Nigerian senators, arguing that teachers should be better compensated.
“Senators are getting 30 million Naira per month. Teachers should be the ones collecting 30 million Naira per month,” he said.
“Senators are supposed to be the lowest-paid people in Nigeria because they don’t even go to work.”
Sowore said he was not part of any coalition with other political figures, saying he had nothing in common with them.
“We are not part of any coalition with them. We don’t have anything in common,” he said.
He claimed the alliance being discussed by other politicians was fake and had collapsed.
“Now they have come out and said the alliance was fake. That they didn’t even plan anything. Even the person who was planning it said that he already had his own candidate,” Sowore said.
“We are not stepping down, we are stepping up the game.”
