Troops of Operation Fansan Yamma have rescued 11 people abducted in two separate operations in Danko-Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
The victims were freed during military operations carried out on October 30 and 31, 2026, following encounters with suspected bandits and terrorists.
The spokesman for the 8 Division, Sokoto, Lt. Col. Olaniyi Osoba, disclosed the operations in a statement made available to Punch on Sunday.
Osoba said the first rescue followed a distress call reporting that armed men had blocked a road leading to Ribah town and were attempting to attack the community.
Troops sent to the area discovered that residents had been abducted and motorcycles left behind at the scene.
They pursued the attackers and exchanged gunfire with them, forcing the gunmen to retreat and leave seven victims behind.

The rescued individuals were identified as Sa’adu Bala, Dantani Yahyi, Nura Musa, Nasiru Muhammad, Abdulakeem Abubakar, Abdulahi Maikudi and Zaki Gom.
The military said the seven victims had been reunited with their families.
In a separate incident near Wasagu, troops on routine patrol came under attack by suspected terrorists but repelled the assailants, who abandoned four abducted residents as they fled.
Osoba said the victims had been seized from their farms in Wasagu village before the troops intervened.
The four rescued people were identified as Lawali Ali, Samaila Shuaibu, Kasimu Shuaibu and Aliyu Bala. They were later handed over to the community head.
The military pledged to maintain security operations in the area, saying troops would continue to respond to threats and work to protect residents and their property.
“The troops remain committed to the safety and security of all communities in the area and will continue to respond promptly to security threats,” the statement added.
