President Donald Trump stated Tuesday that he would accept the midterm election results, yet he quickly shifted blame to his own party after voters swept Democrats into control of both the House and Senate.

Despite spending months telling voters to treat his presence on the campaign trail as if he were on the ballot, Trump posted on Truth Social, “I wasn’t on the ballot, and if I was, we would have won IN A LANDSLIDE! Thank you for your attention to this matter.”

A White House official reinforced this stance by criticising GOP candidate quality, asserting, “Candidate quality matters, and President Trump did a better job promoting many of the candidates on the ballot than the candidates did themselves.”

Trump also targeted unseated Texas Governor Greg Abbott, claiming Abbott lost because he became a “RINO.”

Trump later adopted a conciliatory tone during an interview with The New York Times, saying, “I am absolutely willing to accept those results. We’ll work with the Democrats, and we’ll, you know, look forward to working with them.”

However, he quickly signalled potential legislative gridlock by posting a picture of his trademark red MAGA hat alongside the word “VETO.”

Inside a defiant White House, staff dined on Cheesecake Factory takeout—a nod to former President Barack Obama’s past comments about White House renovations—as senior officials watched the losses mount.

Looking toward the final two years of his term, the administration signalled that Trump will not retreat quietly, particularly regarding foreign policy and political opposition.

A White House official warned that voters who opposed the administration’s war in Iran would regret their choice once gas prices drop, adding, “Regardless of how today plays out, President Trump’s resolve to stop the Radical Left is only going to become stronger. Buckle up.”
