United States (US) President Donald Trump has unveiled the design of a limited-edition American passport commemorating the country’s 250th anniversary of independence, featuring his portrait on one of its pages.
Trump revealed the passport rendering on his Truth Social platform on Friday, describing it as: “The U.S.A.’s New Passport, which says, ‘Welcome, but be good!'”
The mock-up depicts a stern-faced Trump seated at his desk alongside his signature, with the text of the US Declaration of Independence in the background. The portrait appears to be based on an image taken by White House photographer Daniel Torok.
The opposite page features a painting of the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 1776 and bears the inscription, “United States of America 250.”
The White House also shared the passport design on social media, describing it as the “PATRIOT PASSPORT.”

AFP reported that the US State Department had previously announced plans to release a commemorative passport featuring custom artwork on July 6. However, the department did not immediately respond to requests for comment after Trump unveiled the design.
In April, a State Department official said the Trump-themed passports would be available only through in-person appointments in Washington and while supplies last.
The commemorative passport is the latest example of Trump’s efforts to leave his mark on US government institutions. His administration has displayed banners bearing his image outside several federal buildings, while the Treasury Department has announced that his signature will soon appear on the one-dollar bill.
Trump also sought to add his name to the John F. Kennedy Centre for the Performing Arts before a court ordered its removal.
According to AFP, if the commemorative passport is issued as planned, Trump will become the first sitting US president to be featured in American travel documents.
