The president of football’s global governing body, FIFA, Gianni Infantino, has announced that United States President Donald Trump will attend the final of the 2026 World Cup and present the trophy to the winning team.

Speaking to Fox & Friends on Tuesday, Infantino said he would jointly present the trophy with Trump at the World Cup final in New Jersey on July 19.

“We will be together with the president enjoying the final and handing the trophy to the winner, of course, together,” Infantino said.

Infantino has maintained a close relationship with Trump in recent years. He previously awarded him a newly created FIFA Peace Prize during the World Cup draw in Washington last year.

According to AFP, the decision to hold a joint trophy presentation follows controversy surrounding the Club World Cup final presentation in New Jersey last year, when English club Chelsea defeated Paris Saint-Germain.

During that ceremony, Trump handed the trophy to Chelsea captain Reece James but remained on stage, briefly joining the team’s celebrations alongside visibly surprised players.
