Wynn Resorts announced Tuesday that regional conflicts and supply chain disruptions have delayed the opening of the United Arab Emirates’ first licensed casino to September 2027.

CEO Craig Billings cited logistics and shipping challenges following U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iran in late February, which increased overall project costs by approximately $600 million due to rising material and transport expenses.

Despite the setback, construction of the 1,542-room luxury resort on Ras Al Khaimah’s Al Marjan Island is advancing rapidly as workers carry out interior fit-outs, electrical installations, and finishing work.

Wynn Resorts, which secured the UAE’s inaugural commercial gaming licence in October 2024, saw its shares jump five per cent in after-hours trading despite the cost overruns.
