US President Donald Trump said on Saturday that the United States and Iran have “largely negotiated” a deal that would include reopening the Strait of Hormuz, although he stressed that the draft agreement still awaits final approval.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump said an agreement had been “largely negotiated, subject to finalisation” between the United States of America, the Islamic Republic of Iran, and several other countries, pointing to wider regional involvement in the discussions.

He added that the proposed arrangement contains multiple elements that still require agreement before it can be formally concluded.

Trump stated that one of the key provisions of the draft deal would be the reopening of the strategically important Strait of Hormuz, a vital shipping route for global energy supplies.

However, he did not provide detailed terms of the agreement or indicate when it might be completed.

His remarks come amid ongoing diplomatic efforts involving several Middle Eastern nations, as talks continue over security, trade routes, and regional stability.

While he described progress as significant, he emphasised that the agreement has not yet been finalised, meaning further negotiations are still required before any formal deal is reached.
