US-Saudi Air Strikes Kill 20 in Iraq

Joint U.S.-Saudi air strikes killed at least 20 militants and injured 32 others in Iraq on Wednesday, according to the Hashed al-Shaabi paramilitary alliance.

Washington and Riyadh launched the coordinated strikes against Iran-backed groups in response to ongoing attacks on U.S. military forces and Saudi oil infrastructure.

Officials from the Hashed confirmed that five Iranian military advisors were among those killed during targeted strikes in Diyala province.

U.S. President Donald Trump stated that the military operation proceeded with the knowledge of the Iraqi government.

The strikes follow mounting pressure on Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi to disarm regional militias that regularly target Western assets.

The Iraqi government denounced the air strikes as a violation of national sovereignty, while the pro-Iran Islamic Resistance in Iraq vowed to launch retaliatory attacks against U.S. targets and Saudi interests following the upcoming Arbaeen pilgrimage.
