The minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has declared that President Bola Tinubu‘s directive to connect all satellite communities to the city centre is being fulfilled through ongoing infrastructure development across the territory.

Wike spoke at the flagging off of the construction of an access road from Tunga Madaki to Zuba on Monday, as part of activities marking President Tinubu’s third year in office.

“It has been the directive of Mr President that all communities, all satellite towns, must be linked up to the city. What we are doing today is to fulfil that promise that Mr President has made that during his time, all satellite towns, all area councils, will have the attention of this government,” Wike said.

The minister said the new road project followed the earlier commissioning of the Bill Clinton Drive-Tunga Madaki access road, which bypasses the airport’s second runway.

He noted that the Zuba Area Council Chairman had approached him to request an extension of the road from Tunga Madaki to the Abuja-Kaduna highway.

Wike praised the council chairman for attracting the project to his community, describing it as an example of effective leadership.

The minister noted that the road would provide direct access to the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport for communities that were previously cut off.
