Militants Kidnap American Nun in Burkina Faso

Suspected militants have kidnapped an 83 year-old American nun in Burkina Faso.

The armed men abducted her from a nunnery where they vandalised apartments and destroyed a vehicle, according to the Bishop of the Northern Kaya diocese.

Since October 2014, the nun had been serving in the parish.

A search operation is underway in the Soum province border area, where armed groups are active and attacks on civilians have risen.

In recent years, terrorists have kidnapped a number of foreign nationals in northern Burkina Faso and other parts of the Sahel.

News Central has reported a number of Militant attacks in Burkina Faso in recent weeks. On April 3, Militants killed 20 civilians in a gold mine in Namentenga province in Burkina Faso.

Also,suspected militants on March 21 attacked a Military unit in Tarpaka town in Burkina Faso, killing 12 troops. This was one week after armed militants killed 30 civilians in Northern Burkina Faso.
