Kremlin: ‘Illegal’ EU Sanctions to Backfire

The Kremlin on Friday downplayed the significance of the European Union’s latest sanctions against Russia, labelling them “illegal” and predicting they would ultimately harm the countries imposing them.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters that Moscow would “certainly analyse the new package to minimise its impact.”

However, he added, “Every new package adds to the negative effect on the very countries that join in on them.”
