An Israeli advocacy group has called for US President Donald Trump to receive the Nobel Peace Prize, praising his efforts to secure the release of hostages in Gaza.
The Hostages and Missing Families Forum, which campaigns for the safe return of hostages, sent a letter to the Norwegian Nobel Committee on Monday, highlighting Trump’s “determination to bring peace” and claiming he has achieved what many considered impossible.
“We strongly urge you to award President Trump the Nobel Peace Prize because he has vowed he will not rest and will not stop until every last hostage is back home,” the forum said. It added that Trump’s “comprehensive plan to release all remaining hostages and finally end this terrible war is on the table.”
The appeal coincides with high-stakes negotiations scheduled to begin Monday in Egypt between Israel and Hamas, following a 20-point plan unveiled by Trump last week. The US leader has publicly expressed his desire to win the Nobel Peace Prize, though experts note that his chances remain slim and have questioned his claims of having resolved multiple conflicts over the past year.
