Syria has closed its main border crossing with Jordan, suspending passenger and commercial traffic in both directions following deadly airstrikes in the southern province of Daraa.
Based on an AFP report, the Syrian General Authority for Border Crossings and Customs announced the closure would take effect on Tuesday. It said the decision was due to the “current circumstances” in Daraa.
The crossing, known as Nassib in Syria and Jaber in Jordan, is the only passenger and commercial border crossing between the two countries.

The closure follows strikes by Jordan’s air force on suspected militant hideouts in southern Syria. Amman said the operation targeted suspects linked to last week’s deadly attack on a church in Jordan.
Jordan said the suspects were connected to “terrorist groups” operating in Syria. However, further details about the strikes and those targeted were not immediately available.
