English Premier League side West Ham United have launched an investigation into alleged Islamophobic abuse of reigning African player of the year, Mohamed Salah at Wembley.

Footage circulated on social media showed the Egyptian forward subjected to Islamic abuse while taking a corner kick at the London Stadium on Monday night, during a Premier League encounter.

The Twitter user who uploaded the footage wrote: “I went to watch West Ham vs Liverpool and I was disgusted by what I was hearing. People like this deserve no place in our society let alone football matches.”
