EFCC Declares Ex-Minister Sylva Wanted

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has declared former Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Timipre Sylva, wanted in connection with a purported conspiracy and fraudulent conversion of funds totalling $14.8 million.

In a public announcement on Monday, the anti-corruption agency said the matter pertains to funds reportedly allocated by the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) to Atlantic International Refinery and Petrochemical Limited for the construction of a refinery.

The EFCC noted that the notice is a result of an arrest warrant issued by the Lagos State High Court on November 6, 2025.

“The public is hereby notified that Timipre Sylva, a former Minister of State, Petroleum Resources, and former Governor of Bayelsa State, is wanted by the EFCC in connection with an alleged case of conspiracy and dishonest conversion of $14,859,257,” the notice, signed by EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale, said.

The Commission has called on anyone with information regarding Sylva’s location to reach out to any of its offices nationwide or report to the nearest police station or security organisation.

Sylva was associated with an alleged coup attempt but has refuted the claim.
