A Spanish man and three of his children are missing after a tourist boat sank in rough seas off Indonesia, rescuers told AFP on Saturday.
The vessel, carrying 11 people, went down in the Padar Island Strait near the popular tourist town of Labuan Bajo on Friday night, according to state news agency Antara.
The missing man’s wife and one daughter were among seven passengers rescued, along with four crew members and a tour guide, the search mission reported.
Search teams continued on Saturday for the remaining four passengers—a father, two boys, and a girl. Fathur Rahman, coordinator of the mission, said his team had found debris and parts of the boat’s hull near the sinking site.

However, the rescue effort was hindered by rough weather, strong currents and waves reaching 1.5 metres (five feet). Authorities closed Padar Island to visitors due to extreme conditions.
The Labuan Bajo port authority attributed the sinking to waves up to three metres (10 feet), which complicated the initial search, according to port chief Stephanus Risdiyanto.
Video from the National Search and Rescue Agency showed emergency workers in blue uniforms assisting passengers from an inflatable orange boat onto shore, with other footage showing people in lifejackets on a rescue vessel battling the waves.
Maritime accidents are common in Indonesia, an archipelago of around 17,000 islands, often caused by poor safety standards and adverse weather conditions.
