Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has revealed that prominent former leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and close allies of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar have agreed to support President Bola Tinubu.

The figures include former PDP National Chairman Uche Secondus, former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Austin Opara, ex-Rivers State Governor Celestine Omehia, and former Minister of Transport Abiye Sekibo.

Fubara disclosed this on Thursday at the New Year banquet organised by the Rivers State Government at the Government House in Port Harcourt.

He acknowledged their presence, saying their public appearance effectively dispelled claims and blackmail suggesting he was aligning with forces opposed to the President.

The governor said he remains steadfast despite political pressure, hinting that his faith in God continues to strengthen and reassure him.

He noted that this faith underpins his resolve to fulfil the full purpose of governance in Rivers State.

Fubara stressed that he fully understands the political terrain and has already put strategies in place to navigate it and deliver his administration’s mandate.

He said those who fail to grasp unfolding events often resort to “barking,” echoing a reference attributed to Julius Caesar.

He further declared that 2026 would represent “complete liberation” for Rivers State, assuring residents that his administration would achieve all its set goals.

He expressed confidence that his supporters would ultimately feel proud of their decision to stand by him.

The governor said his administration has endured many challenges but has emerged stronger, noting that even unresolved battles have reinforced his determination. He maintained that he has lost nothing and will recover everything in due course.

Fubara concluded by assuring residents that his government would never compel anyone to do wrong, stating that he harbours no fear and believes every necessary bridge will be crossed at the appropriate time.
