Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has signed the ₦4.4 trillion 2026 budget into law. The signing took place on Monday at Lagos House, Alausa, Ikeja, following the Lagos State House of Assembly’s passage of the appropriation bill earlier in January.
The budget, titled the “Budget of Shared Prosperity,” authorises total expenditure of ₦4,444,509,776,438 for the 2026 fiscal year.
The ceremony was attended by Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat, members of the State Executive Council, Head of Service Bode Agoro, lawmakers, and other senior government officials.

While presenting the proposal to the Assembly in November 2025, Sanwo-Olu said the spending plan was aimed at fostering inclusive growth and improving residents’ welfare.
He explained at the time that the administration’s objective was to reduce poverty and ensure that economic progress translated into tangible benefits for Lagosians, adding that the vision of shared prosperity guided the state’s fiscal priorities.
The governor also noted that the budget framework rests on four key pillars: a people-focused approach, infrastructure development, economic expansion and efficient governance, all of which align with the state’s development agenda.
