A son of a former Zimbabwean president has been arrested in Johannesburg following an alleged shooting incident involving a security guard in the Hyde Park area, north of the city.

The suspect is believed to be Robert Mugabe’s son, as per eNCA reports.

The security guard was admitted to the hospital following the incident, according to the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC).

The extent of the victim’s injuries has not yet been made public by the authorities.

Police were reportedly on the scene at a residence in Hyde Park where the alleged shooting took place.

Speaking to SABC, a man who identified himself as “Batista” and claimed to be a member of the family’s private security team said he received a call requesting assistance at the property.

He also expressed frustration after being denied access to the residence.

Details of the incident remain unclear, and officials have not released the suspect’s name pending further investigation.
