Peter Akpe has been confirmed as the deputy governor of Bayelsa State by the Bayelsa State House of Assembly.

Governor Douye Diri nominated Akpe to fill the vacancy left by the passing of former deputy governor Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo.

Prior to his confirmation, Akpe was Chief of Staff at Government House, Yenagoa.

Akpe is a seasoned politician and public administrator who served two terms in the Bayelsa State House of Assembly.

After becoming a Director through the civil service, he went on to hold high-ranking political positions, including Acting Chief of Staff and Deputy Chief of Staff.

With a PhD, he is also a Christian minister, frequently referred to as Pastor Peter Akpe or Hon. (Dr).
