The Delta State Police Command has arrested more than 270 suspects during coordinated raids on criminal hideouts and high-risk areas in Warri, Uvwie, Jeddo, and Ughelli communities.
The operations, based on intelligence from the State Intelligence Department (SID), targeted locations known for drug-related activities and criminal gatherings.
Assorted illicit substances, including codeine, crack cocaine, tramadol, and Indian hemp, were recovered.
According to SP Bright Edafe, the state police spokesperson, on March 25, 2026, officers led by DCP Olumuyiwa Adejobi carried out raids across Warri South, Uvwie, and Okpe LGAs, including Ugbrumu and Jeddo.
Fifty-nine suspects, 51 men and eight women, were arrested, including individuals linked to cult activities. Several hotels and bars functioning as brothels and criminal safe havens were affected.
“Notably, most of the hotels affected operate as brothels housing prostitutes and creating a safe haven for criminal elements, while some suspected cultists who have been on the Command’s watch list were among those apprehended,” Edafe said.
“Exhibits recovered include substances suspected to be codeine, crack cocaine, ‘loud,’ ‘colos,’ and weeds suspected to be Indian hemp.”

On March 26, 2026, DCP Adejobi led a second raid in Ughelli, targeting locations along the Ughelli–Patani Expressway, such as Epini Hotel, Torsac Hotel, and Primaria Guest House.
This operation resulted in the arrest of 213 suspects, with additional drugs recovered.
The PPRO said, “It is noteworthy that many of the hotels raided were found to be operating as brothels, harbouring prostitutes and serving as safe havens for criminal elements.
“Recovered exhibits include large quantities of substances suspected to be Canadian loud, CSC syrup, tramadol, swinol, and Indian hemp.
“The suspects and exhibits have been handed over to the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of ‘A’ Division, Ughelli, as well as the officers in charge of the Rapid Response Squad and the CP Special Assignment Team (CP-SAT) for coordinated investigation, profiling, and possible prosecution.
“Meanwhile, the State Commissioner of Police, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, has assured members of the public that “all suspects found culpable will be prosecuted in accordance with the law.”
